Female Student Network Background

The Female Students Network (FSN) is a network of female students in tertiary educational institutions of Zimbabwe. The Network was established in 2005 with the aim of empowering female students to demand their space for participation and engagement in democratic processes and be able to speak out issues of violence and advocate for women’s rights. FSN was born after wide consultations with female students and various stakeholders in student sector so as to establish a platform for interaction and sharing experiences by female students on the challenges they face in their day to day lives. The Network is registered as a Trust and is also registered with the Zimbabwe Youth Council under the Youth Council Act, chapter 25:19 as amended by Act No. 16 of 1997 and 


To be a sustainable and responsive organisation dealing with issues affecting female students in Zimbabwe’s tertiary institutions


To empower female students in tertiary institutions through various participatory processes and to provide a platform to enhance lobbying and advocacy capacities.
